The Office of Ethics, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk, in collaboration with the Office of Equal Opportunity Services, is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the updated RICE Way Training program later this month. This updated program embodies Rice’s core values of Responsibility, Integrity, Community, and Excellence, ensuring our community is equipped to uphold the highest ethical standards in alignment with the university’s mission. The RICE Way Training has been thoughtfully redesigned to align with Rice’s updated policies and recent regulatory changes. Whether you’re a faculty member shaping minds or a staff member keeping our campus humming, this program is your essential guide to doing things the right way, the RICE Way.
The refreshed program includes five engaging modules, taking about one hour to complete. It’s built for flexibility so that you’re able to complete the modules at your own pace, in any order, and pause as needed. Here’s what you’ll explore:
- Ethical Conduct and Reporting: Helpful tools to act with integrity and report concerns.
- Information Security: Practical tips to keep Rice’s digital world secure.
- Privacy Regulations & Records Protection: Guidance on complying with data protection rules.
- Discrimination & Sexual Misconduct: Steps to foster a respectful workplace.
- Workplace Civility: Ways to build a welcoming and inclusive community.
Offered in English, as well as in captioned Spanish, the training is accessible, with open captions and compatibility with most screen readers.
Who?
The RICE Way Training is required for all benefits-eligible employees who are working, teaching, researching, or engaging with the Rice community at the start of the training period. New hires will get the details during onboarding and must complete it within 30 days of starting. On sabbatical or extended leave? Just wrap it up within 30 days of returning.
When?
Mark your calendars: the training kicks off in the latter half of November. Access it via the iO Learning Module, with easy step-by-step instructions that will be shared in the coming days. Let’s come together this November for the RICE Way Training to celebrate and strengthen our shared commitment to integrity and community. Here’s to making Rice a place where we “owl” thrive!
